* An Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza killed at least 500 people, according to Palestinian officials in the besieged area.
* Israel blamed the accidental rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a charge the group denies.
World leaders have condemned the attack on a Gaza hospital, where hundreds of people died. Here are some reactions: Saudi Arabia condemns "in the strongest terms the heinous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces", we read in a statement.
“This dangerous development requires the international community to abandon double standards and selectivity in the application of international humanitarian law when it comes to Israel's criminal activities,” he added.
Qatar said “Israel's expansion of attacks into the Gaza Strip targeting hospitals, schools and other population centers constitutes a dangerous escalation,” a statement from Qatar's Foreign Ministry read. Arab League head Ahmed Aboul Gheit said international leaders must "end this tragedy immediately" in response to the tragic explosion.
Health officials in Gaza told us that most of the victims in the Israeli attack on the hospital were women and children. They told us that the death toll would rise as many bodies remained unidentified. Authorities called for large participation at the victims' funerals today.
In Gaza, at least 5 hospitals have received evacuation orders from Israel. According to international law, hospitals are considered safe and out of range of attack. In Gaza, this principle is not respected.
The question is: how will hospitals be evacuated and where will patients be taken, some of whom are in critical condition? Israel's intentions behind these evacuation warnings remain unclear to Gaza residents.
Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, told Al Jazeera that al-Ahli Arab Hospital is a historical hospital associated with the Anglican church.
“It welcomed many displaced families and patients. It has become a shelter due to Israeli attacks on Gaza,” al-Qidra said, adding that ambulance services were trying to evacuate bodies and count the dead, many of them they are children.
The Israeli military said humanitarian aid would be provided to Palestinians evacuated to southern Gaza, but did not provide details on whether or how that aid would be delivered to the area.
“Al-Mawasi is where international Humanitarian Aid will be provided when needed,” the message said.
However, it remains unclear whether aid will be allowed into Gaza as no humanitarian convoy has entered since Israel imposed a "total siege" following the October 7 attack.
An Israeli military spokesman did not respond to a Reuters reporter when asked whether aid was authorized and, if so, when and where. As we bring you all the latest news and developments on the ground, here are some explanations for better understanding as the war continues:
* What do we know about Israel's deadly attack on a hospital in Gaza that killed 500 people?
* Why did Jordan cancel Biden's visit after Israel bombed Gaza hospital?
* What can Biden's visit to Israel achieve after the hospital bombing?
Israel controls Gaza's airspace and territorial waters, as well as two of the three border crossings; the third is controlled by Egypt. Last week, Israel imposed a “total siege” on Gaza, shutting down fuel and water supplies and blocking all aid.
